My dream is to visit Africa. I've always been fascinated by the "dark continent" - a friend is amazed that I can almost name every country in Africa (there's 54).

I can't remember how long it has been since I became interested in Africa. It may have dated back to 1983 when I began a friendship with Ina, a pen friend in Cape Town, South Africa. Ina and I never met.

In 2007, I moved to Calgary and fell in love with the Rocky Mountains.

Since I am currently not working, I decided now would be the best time to combine my dream of visiting Africa with my passion for hiking. I will be traveling to Tanzania and attempt to summit Mount Kilimanjaro and reach the top of Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Let's all hope I make it!

To "top it off," I will meet Ina, my pen friend in Cape Town for the first time! We lost touch over 20 years ago but by harnessing the power of the internet, I found her! She's still living in Cape Town and we'll finally meet.

Does all this count as three dreams!? =)
