My dream is to realize at least one PlayPump somewhere in Africa.
Last year I went to Zimbabwe as a volunteer and there I discovered how we consider things here as completely normal (like clean drinking water) which aren't normal at all in a lot of other parts of the world. Here we open the tap and clean drinkwater is always available to us. In most parts of Africa its totally different. The place I went had a water pump but it only worked when there was electricity (once every few days). However they were still better of then most people there. Usually kids that should go to school are walking a few kilometers/miles per day to get water (not clean) from a river. They're not going to school and drink unsafe water causing diseases.
After my trip to Zimbabwe I ran into PlayPumps (www.playpumps.org) and I decided to arrange at least 1 PlayPump. A PlayPump is a simple solution, its a merry-go-round on which children play which pumps up clean drinkwater and stores it in a tank. One PlayPump can provide fresh drinking water to a small village.
Wouldn't it be great if we could arrange clean drinking water for a whole village?
Will you help me to achieve this dream?
So far I've collected about 9000 CAD so just 5500 CAD to go!
